Designing for Safety

To find and understand the CCA students safety concerns about being on campus and then designing an app/service that will solve the problem and make CCA a safer space

SDP or Self-Defense Program is a learning program that has online and in-person courses scheduled where students can learn different self-defense skills. The program includes a website that would be free for CCA students to log in and watch self-defense videos.

We talked to students and found their concerns:

“To be safe is to have a sense of security. I am not afraid of activities inside and outside of school. It is not that there must be security, but that individuals are not afraid in an open space.”

We concluded that the main problem is:

Most of the students often feel unsafe when they are going around campus or the neighborhood because of the infamous status, empty streets, and suspicious people lurking around
